BILLY GILMOUR DETERMINED TO SHOW THAT HE IS NOT JUST A CHELSEA PASSENGER.
Teenage sensation, Billy Gilmour has said that he will do all he can to show that he belongs in that Chelsea Midfield.
The 18 year old was named man of the match in the FA cup win against run away premiere league leaders liverpool last Tuesday before the young Scot continued to show his quality against another Merseyside team, Everton and showed some excellent football and that gave him a second man of the match display in the space of five day.
The 18 year old Scot said at an interview warning people that he still has a lot to offer despite the two excellent matches he endured and said that there is still a more to come from him.
"It's quite difficult, coming on and playing with top player," Gilmour said.
"But this is a dream come true and when I go out there, I need to do something different, something that will keep me in the team and help the team in as many ways as i possibly can."
"But the boys have been brilliant with me, Toni Rudiger has been brilliant with me, Cesar Azpiliqueta has been brilliant with me as they are always talking all the time by giving me confidence during training and also during matches."
"As a young player, confidence plays an important role for the development of a player. Without confidence, you wouldn't be able to play good games and you would be a bit under pressure and you wouldn't manage to pull through and later you become a bit naive."
"But I loved it and the first team boys treat the youngsters very well."
Despite Mason Mount being 3 years Gilmour's senior, he has vowed to make sure Gilmour keeps his feet on the ground.
Mount told the club's official website regarding Gilmour's easy adaptation to the first team environment, "That's just Gilmour."
"I'm not surprised, I know what he is as a player and also as a boy."
"I'm close with him and I know what kind of person the boy is and he has quite a strong character which has given me no doubt in his ability. He has stepped up and performed excellently in last two games and that came due to how confident he is which has also shown everyone just how good this young player truly is on the pitch."
"He has been dominant and confident on the ball which is what you want to see."
"The young players coming through are going to have these challenges and it's obviously an achievement to make it in the first by starting a game at home at Stamford bridge."
"He's very grounded, got a good and strong family around him and he's a screwed-on-boy, so it won't get to him at all."
"I won't let it get to him either, I'll make sure I keep him grounded, so he'll be fine." Mount said about Billy Gilmour on the club's official website.
